Nahal Jilabun in the Summer
Now that the summer heat is on its way, it is time to make a splash and welcome summer time adventures! We had what felt like a long and hard winter, and now life is beginning to resemble something that we have not seen in over a year! The fresh water pools in Nahal Jilabun will now feel refreshing and enlivening to take a dip in! Just after the winter rains have finished, Nahal Jilabun is bursting with lush greenery. Located right in the Golan Heights, is one of the most famous streams along the Golan Heights and venturing into the Hulla Valley, where the water makes its way to the Jordan River. This stream runs vigorously all year round and along the banks is thick vegetation such as oak trees, figs, river hawthorns, and much more. The site itself attracts avid hikers from all over the country. Once we are well up the stream, we will find two jaw dropping waterfalls. The first being ‘Deborah’s Waterfall’. Awaiting at the bottom is a large and deep pool between the lava walls of the canyon. For the thrill seeker – this site allows you to swim under the pummeling water, and even the chance to enter a small cave just behind the waterfall!
The second waterfall, Jilabun Waterfall, is an eye popping 680 feet high and is the highest flowing waterfall in all of Israel. In order to reach the bottom, we must rappel downwards using ropes and through the pummeling water! There is no way you will remain dry on this adventure. If you are looking for a family adventure that is completely authentic, we invite you to take the challenge of this raw ‘canyoning’ experience! Once we reach the bottom, we will detach from our ropes and swim across the cook and refreshing pool.
Nahal Jilabun is waiting for you and your friends or family! Dare to take the plunge and experience Israel in a whole new way!
