Nachal Chalamish

Nachal Chalamish

Nachal Chalamish is a stream that descends moderately from the Arad area to the Dead Sea. In the wadi channel there are three waterfalls ranging from 10 to 40 meters high that are perfect for a ‘canyoning’ experience. ‘Canyoning’ means hiking through a trail through the nachal/wadi channel and then rappelling down dry waterfalls (this is located in the desert). On this type of trip, rappelling is a significant part of it therefore it cannot be skipped. However it is the best experience, and a lot of fun!

We begin our adventure by walking up a jeep trail that leads us into the desert, and away from civilization. After about 20 minutes, we reach the wadi channel and from there we part from the marked path and begin to enjoy the wild beauty of Nachal Chalamish. We will walk for another few minutes until we reach the first waterfall in the series. Continuing onwards, we then reach our rappelling point and make our way towards a stream that meets the Dead Sea road.

This fantastic experience is perfect for a day trip or even a night trip for those who want a bit of a challenge! Walking along a river while being encompassed with the primevel landscape of the Judean Desert is combined with both fun and challenges that can be enjoyed for hours! This is the perfect site for anyone seeking a real rock climbing experience.
