The southern part of the Eilat Mountains is a unique area where volcanic and sedimentary rocks converge. The landscape is shaped by deep, expansive canyons that extend into the Arava and Eilat Bay
Essentially, this region is part of the spacious vastness of Sinai.
Zig-zaging its way along the Egyptian-Israeli border, we will see a variety of rock types.
The Upper Gishron is a pleasant, circular route (the start and finish point are the same) that takes us along a dry riverbed, passing by spectacular canyons formed from colorful sandstone.
Along the way, we’ll come across a stunning dry waterfall, where you can choose to rappel down or walk around. The challenge of walking through the entire canyon will take a full day to complete; however, the walk is easy for families to enjoy.
