Nachal Tzafit

Nachal Tzafit

Nachal Tzafit is beautiful canyon located in the South part of the Judean Desert, right along the border of the Arava area. This nachal (river) is dry most of the year except for the heavy rain season when there are occasional flash floods. The canyon goes down to the lowest part of the world, the Dead Sea. Along the way, you will see that both sides of the cliffs appearing taller and taller as you go lower and lower.

This is a spectacular desert hike that gives you an opportunity to enjoy the silence of the empty desert as there will be no other humans around. There’s also a good chance of spotting some wildlife, such as foxes, jackals, deer, special desert birds and more. In the last part of the hike, you will use rungs to make your way down the canyon. This is not a round-trip hike, so you will begin the hike up towards Dimona and you will finish the hike at Road Number 90, Arava Road that goes all the way down to Eilat.
